Leila is a soprano from Hertfordshire who performs opera, oratorio and musical theatre. She studied for her Masters at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and at the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence as part of the European Opera Academy. Whilst at College, Leila was generously supported by the Sir Richard Stapley Trust, Harpenden Music Foundation and the Universal Music UK Sound Foundation.
Leila has performed both as a soloist and with choirs across the UK and Florence in venues such as the British Embassy (Florence), Institut Français (Florence), St David’s Hall, the Alban Arena, Wells Cathedral, and the Senedd. Recent performances include the role of Barbarina (The Marriage of Figaro) for GAPfest (directed by Martin Lamb and Ben Cox) and Belinda (Dido and Aeneas) with Clacton Choral Society. Her other operatic roles include Papagena and First Lady (Die Zauberflöte) with St Albans Chamber Opera, Angelica (Trial by Jury) with St Albans Chamber Opera, as well as Belinda and the First and Second Witches (Dido and Aeneas) at RWCMD. Leila also enjoys performing in opera choruses, with credits including Northern Opera Group's Savitri and St Albans Chamber Opera’s productions of Hansel and Gretel, Die Fledermaus, and The Pirates of Penzance.
In addition to her classical work, Leila regularly performs as a backing vocalist for the jazz-folk ensemble The Alice Phelps Band. With the group, she has appeared at notable venues and festivals, including the Oxford Folk Festival, Royal Academy of Arts, Jamboree, The Green Note, National Portrait Gallery, and Rich Mix London.
